SCULPTURE

Psyche: Commissioned by The Cummings Foundation
20 solid brass with lapis stands, Oscar-like sculptures based on the myth of Psyche and the Divine feminine.
This is an award given out every year to the top psychiatrists in their field and it carries with it a $50,000 grant.

StemCells, Inc.: Commissioned sculpture for retirement award to one of the founders of Stem Cell Research.
The image is the actual microscope stem cell, enhanced, dropped out the black background, color enhanced
on three different clear sheets of acetate. Each image is slightly rotated to make an offset illusion. The sheets were
then hand cut to fit the irregular shape of the inside of the hand blown class rectangle. The threes sheets appear to float inside
the glass by way of thin plastic fibers that run through the top and bottom corners of the sheets and are spaced about an inch apart.
The middle sheet is slightly forced to add an element of surprise as it will shift forward and back according to the temperature
change in its environment giving even more of a dimensional effect. The Cell becomes alive!

Plexiglas, half round nubs are attached to the base of the glass container so that the entire sculpture appears to float.
The top is sealed with a highly polished Plexiglas to enhance the contract and expand of the glass, acetate sheets and the
Plexiglas to make even more subtle changes to the suspended images. The sculpture sits on a solid rosewood base with a silver
engraved commemorative. The sculpture is not attached to the base for cleaning purposes and so the recipient may display the
sculpture as a work of art.
